How It Works

The appearance of every town is largely determined by the condition of its buildings. Because this appearance also forms the basis of the public's overall impression, the upgrade and preservation of its buildings is crucial to the continued prosperity of Clover. The Town of Clover, Clover Main Street, and the Clover Economic Development Board would like to encourage all commercial property owners to apply for the Main Street Grant when they are ready to improve the exterior of their building.

The purpose of the Main Street Grant is to provide financial assistance to property and/or business owners to promote facade renovation and preservation to:

Provide an attractive and comfortable place to shop, work and socialize.
Preserve the unique, historical character of Clover.
Attract new business.
Encourage repairs and improvement using quality materials in the renovation.

FAQ's

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Any tenant or property owner of a commercial, for-profit property.

How much can I Apply For?

Up to $3,000 with no matching funds required by the tenant or owner.

When can I Apply?

Grant applications are accepted at any time. However, this is a "first come, first served" grant with $45,000 of total funding budgeted for grants between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

Will I get the Grant Funds up front?

No, the Main Street Grant is a reimbursement grant. A reimbursement form and documents supporting expenses are required before the grant funds will be issued.

What type of Work is Eligible?

Anything that improves the exterior of the property including painting, signage, awnings, doors, windows, lighting, landscaping, accessibility (ADA), and restoring the original materials and finish.

By checking this box, the Applicant and/or Owner acknowledges that he/she has received and read the program guidelines for the Main Street Grant Program. .

Acknowledgments

The program will reimburse pending approval and available funding. Please note that any work completed before receiving approval could affect the chances of receiving reimbursement.

All changes must be approved. Any deviation from the approved application without approval from the Review Committee may result in the loss of the Main Street Grant funds.
All required permits are the responsibility of the owner/applicant.
The project must be completed within twelve (12) months of award to be eligible for reimbursement.
Reimbursement will occur after project completion and upon submission of the Reimbursement Form and required documentation, e.g. invoices, canceled checks/proof of payment, etc.

The Applicant and/or Owner acknowledges that he/she is duly authorized to act on behalf of the Business and that the Business is properly organized and licensed to conduct business in the state of South Carolina and in the Town of Clover.

The Applicant and/or Owner assures that the above information is true and correct and agrees to comply with all Town of Clover guidelines applicable to this program.

The Applicant and/or Owner also agrees that in the event of his/her/their breach of any condition or provision, or whenever deemed to be in the interest of the Town, the Town of Clover has the right to terminate the program agreement

The Applicant and/or Owner authorizes the Town to use his/her/its name, likeness, photos and/or information about the applied for project for promotional purposes.

I understand that the Property Owner will be contacted to verify permission to complete the project.

Applications must also include the following documentation:

Design plans, sketches, color & description of the material, plant selections, etc.
